Finally, A Graduates

Monday, May 21, 2007
Finally I'm officially graduated from Temasek Polytechnic Design School. My graduation ceremony was held today at Temasek Polytechnic Conventional Hall aka TCC.

Today was fun, enjoying and memorable. Not going to say much. Guess photos will say it all. So here it goes .........

Once upon a time, in a far away land, there live a girl who had never been to a graduation ceremony. One day, she receive a invitation to attend one. Happily she hug her beloved doggy before setting off, wearing a formal outfit for the first time in her life .......

Bringing along the graduation suit specially design by Temasek In-house designer, the story goes on...............

*snap snap* The girl was so busy taking photos before even register to enter.

Still taking photos after entering - The ceremony stage! *cool*

Even when someone is giving a speech, she is also taking photos.

I wonder how she manage to take photo of herself receiving the cert from Mr Moses. *hrump*

After the ceremony, she drag her whole family together to take photo.

Not enough, she drag her friends, Shi2 along ...

and some other , (left to right) Wang Yuan, Shiling, Jo, Maria, Ice.

Still not satisfied with it, she ask her mum and sis to take photo with her again. To play along, both of them act cute in it *piss my mum actually act cute. *haha*

and her boyfriend as well!

Before leaving the TCC, her mum spotted this banner and said is more meaningful to take a picture with that backdrop and so here more photo despite the fact that she had taken off her suit ....

Finally, she decided she had enough. o~ for your information, this year is in the 1st batch of polytechnics' graduates in Singapore to wear graduation suits. Seems like it quite meaningful after all.

*Summary of $ spend on this graduation: Harry-Potter-look-a-like suit for $42 + overall formal outfit for $137 = $197 *faint big*;overall formal outfit can be wore again -$100 = $97 *self comforting*

After the graduation ceremony, we went over to Suntec Conventional Hall to had buffet. The congress buffet. *cool* erm~ it sort of expensive, 4 adults, total cost is $103.20. *faint* Nether less, the ambiance is nice. Cooling with aircon and no sweat! The food was pretty interesting and nicely sort of. Nothing special cos most of the main food is raw and you have to cook yourself. The fish have a pretty strong fishy smell other then that, it alright. The chicken soup is super, the tom yam is good also if you are someone that like spicy soup. *haha*

Alrighty, am tire. Shall stop here!

Busy Night

Sunday, May 20, 2007
Big day for me tomorrow. It probably be my one and only time that I will be attending a graduation ceremony in that graduation suit. *haha*

I was busying helping my sis to figure out what she will be wearing and also helping my Doz2 to iron my clothes. *faint* It been ages since I last iron my own clothes and even the clothes that I am going to wear tomorrow, I do not even bother to iron it and yet I'm ironing his clothes. *faint* The worst, he was playing games when I am ironing and when I eventually done, I pass the clothes to him - though not very straight, you still seem some winkles here and there; he actually just put in on the chair backrest without even bother to take a hanger to hang it up! *arghhh* *sigh*

Anyway, hope tomorrow goes well. I still have a couple of things to do like charging my camera and blah blah *piss actually there nothing much to do *haha*

erm was shopping at Marina Square again. Finally manage to find a set of formal attire and some accessories and cost me a total of ($101 - tops, bottoms, a necklaces and a pair of pink sock) cos the sale person say that by simply spending $100, I get a lifetime membership. Just the top and bottom add up to a total of $89 (Pants; $46 + Top; $43), so why not right?

Lover-licious Lunch

Saturday, May 19, 2007
Went to the market this morning [18052007] with my Doz2 to get ingredients for Mr. Doz and Ms Val lunch as I had promise them. Spend slightly less then $30 in the market just by getting 2 carrot, 1 whole cabbage, $4 worth of minced pork meat, $4 worth of minced lamb meat, a fish that cost me $4.50 + went to Sheng Siong Hypermart to buy a bottle of olive oil ($6.95), a oyster sauce ($2.70) and a sesame oil ($2.20).

Back home after the market shopping, I prepare all the ingredients while my Doz2 went back to sleep. I took an hour to wash both the pork and lamb. Wash till so clean that it no longer hgave that bloody color. I wonder how much people will do the same as I *haha* After I'm done with the preparation, I went to take an hour plus nap before I start cooking - Cabbage roll + pork meat and minced pork porridge.

Seeing my Mr. Doz finish up what I had prepare for him and that enjoying look on his face make me feel that it all worth it. *haha* Am I foolish? Anyway, I just hope he love it.What wife are for anyway? To cook and be the husband slave .. *lol* I'm not so much of the slave part though. *evil laugh*

At night, we went Marina Square to shop though initially planned to take my mum out for dinner at Fish and Co. as it her birthday yesterday and her younger daughter; Ms Shan2 did not tag along due to the fact that she needs to prepare for her test today.

[17052007] It was my mum birthday and we head to No Sign Board for a dinner spree with uncle. My brother rented a car and fetch us over. His gf wasn't able to make it due to work. We had a hearty meal and the total bill goes up to about $50+++. Wasn't that expensive after all, considering the fact that we had order 2 big crab and a plate of butter prawn *haha*

Anyway, today [18052007] morning, mama was complaining about my brother wasting money in renting the car and later she contradict herself that her son was just trying to make her happy *faint*

To continue where I left off earlier, me and Doz2 went shopping at Marina Square hoping to be able to find some attire for my stupid graduation - formal wear is needed and I had none! No heels as well. Can you believe it *haha* Anyway I got myself a pair of heels ($35), guess it about 2 inch high. Pretty brave for a heel virgin person right? *haha* Mr. Doz say I had grown up and had started working and it time I learn to wear heels. Moreover, he love that pair of heels (or actually he saying I'm short? *hrump*) Alright, well well, someday I will need to wear heels so might as well take this graduation as a excuse for me to get myself a pair of heels.

Was walking in that heels for approx. 20mins. Starting to get the hang of it except that the back keep slipping out. Any help from heels expert?!

After shopping, we meet up with Shan2 and had our dinner at sakae sushi. *hehe* It the supper buffet and we had stuff our stomach so fat that it almost bloated.

Alright, guess that about all for today. Will upload pic when my handphone is fully charge. *haha* Night!

Understanding How Search Engine Works

Tuesday, May 1, 2007
Search engine searches a site by the keywords that appear on the website. Keywords are the word or words that a Web visitor types into the input box of a search engine to begin a quest for Web pages on a particular topic.

resourece : http://builder.com.com/5100-6375-5144564.html?tag=ra
In years past, Web builders came up with a list of keywords for a Web page and placed that list in the keyword meta tag. The keyword meta tag was designed to be a reference for indexing page content, and the early search engines relied on it heavily.

However, some Web builders began to abuse the system by stuffing the keyword meta tag with terms that had little or no relevance to the page content. The result was Web pages that got traffic by virtue of high rankings for common search terms, but those pages often had little or no content related to the keyword the visitor was searching for.

This pollution of the keyword meta tags eventually rendered them unreliable tools for indexing Web pages or ranking their relevance. As a result, all the major search engines now ignore the keyword meta tag completely or give its contents very low priority in their page-ranking algorithms.
Now, the search engine no long place the meta tag keywords as it main priority, instead, it searches the keywords straight from the website.
The following list puts the possible keyword locations in approximate order from highest to lowest priority.
  • Domain name
  • Page title
  • Headings (enclosed within h1, h2, h3 tags)
  • Body text—The first 2 to 3 KB usually counts more than the rest of the text (if the search engine scans more than that).
  • Meta tags—Keywords appearing in the description meta tag still seem to count, as do keywords in some of the Dublin Core meta tags. Some search engines don't ignore the keyword meta tag completely but, rather, discount it heavily—especially if the keyword doesn't appear elsewhere on the page.
  • Links—Even keywords buried in the URL, name, or id attributes of a link count in page ranking
  • Alt text—Keywords in alt text attributes count toward page ranking. This is yet another reason to take the time to create meaningful alt text for all images.
Keyword repletion is another important factor in page ranking. A page that contains multiple instances of the keyword will generally rank higher than a page on which the keyword appears only once. However, the interaction of keyword placement and repetition is one of the areas where it's almost impossible to second-guess the ranking algorithms.

DIV vs TABLE

I had been wondering about this issue for quite awhile. I'm always screw up with tables until I see how a DIV coded website and realise how amazing DIV are. Finally I set myself down to fully figure out what DIV is all about.

According to http://www.lissaexplains.com/html7.shtml:
"DIV is a block of content that can be positioned anywhere on your site by using absolute positioning and the
tag. The purpose of div elements is to hold content, whereas frames hold pages. This content can be placed anywhere on your site and it can even overlap. The content can consist of images or html."
DIV is use closely with CSS to enhance the layout and appearance of the website. With a proper understanding of both aspect, you can do up a fanciful website layout.

What I've learnt:
  • Always create a "container" to hold the whole site
  • Scripting the "container" to alight center using CSS only works in IE. To solve the problem with other browser, I choose not to script it in CSS
  • Certain browsers will not show the background behind floated DIVs unless you 'clear' them. To get past this little problem, http://www.tutorialtastic.co.uk/tutorial/create_a_tableless_layout suggest
"we need to add another div before we close our container, a footer div:"
    #footer {
    clear: both;
    }
That all for now. Will update again when I find out more
